Why don't Americans put slings on their shotguns, like Europeans do?

Excuse me but I use a side by side which a sling would work on. The brush I hunt makes a sling a unneeded head ack, and as for a pump being the American standard; I see just as many semi's and double as I do pumps and a pump works just fine with a sling on it. I carried one in Veit Ham.
