Why don't people like Pee Wee Herman?

Whenever i bring up pee wee herman, she starts talking about " Dont talk about that guy he's messed up". i asked my brother why doesn't anyone like pee wee herman and he said "Because he does...inappropriate things... don't worry about it" so my question is WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEE WEE HERMAN?? does he have bad tabloid and publicity? does he do drugs? is he a rapists? what?
