Do you believe that Right Wing/Conservative political views go hand in hand with sensationalist media?

In Australia, most of the Murdoch owned tabloids are incredibly conservative, as well as having a sensationalist tone to them. Tabloids by nature are just gossip magazines posing as serious journalism. Is it a coincidence that these same tabloids are also either moderately or aggressively conservative?
